MARK YOUR CALENDARS
There's nothing like a Boucherie weekend! Come join us October 16-18 for the 2026 Boucherie & Balloon Festival. A weekend full of good food, live music, and community.
“I WENT HOG WILD AT THE BOUCHERIE & BALLOON FESTIVAL!”
A boucherie is a gathering where all things pig are cooked, which is exactly what you can expect to find at the Boucherie and Balloon Festival. We host cracklin and jambalaya cooking competitions all weekend, where festival attendees can watch as the cooks work their magic and then try it at the food tent after it’s been judged.
There’s also a cochon de lait, or a pig roast, that is cooked and served over an open fire each day of the festival. This is a long-standing Boucherie Festival tradition you don’t want to miss.
The Boucherie Festival Association (BFA) works the food tent where they sell the competition food, but also other pork items like hog head cheese, pulled pork sandwiches and boudin links. You can also find festival t-shirts, lapel pins, and the annual poster at the BFA tent.
Other food options are available and vary annually. You will find craft and food vendors lining the entry to the festival, as well as local sponsors, so please consider supporting these hard-working individuals on your way in and out of the festival.
Another thing you will see upon arrival to the festival are the hot air balloons! The balloon glows in the evenings are an event you don’t want to miss, and doing a tethered hot air balloon ride is a bucket list item you can check off right here in Sorrento.
Our roots are here in South Louisiana, so it’s only right to host local musicians who’s music ranges from swamp pop to country.
While festival admission is free, the Boucherie and Balloon festival is the primary fundraiser for the Sorrento Lions Club, so donations are always accepted at the entry and the BFA tent.
Our Charitable Causes
The Louisiana Lions Camp is a statewide project run by Louisiana Lions Clubs. This summer camp is provided free for children with respiratory disorders, special needs, juvenile diabetes, and childhood cancer. Qualifying children are sponsored by their local Lions Club.
Lions Clubs International is a service organization that aims to improve communities and support those in need. Key programs the Sorrento Lions Club focuses on include sight conservation, hearing and speech conservations, diabetes awareness, and youth outreach.
Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation
The Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation serves thousands of residents each year through eye exams, eyeglasses, surgeries, low vision services, eyeglass recycling and vision screenings. One of the chief programs of the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation is Cubsight, where tens of thousands of pre-school aged children are screened every year.
Sorrento Lions
Club Mission
Our mission includes serving our community and beyond by providing voluntary services and raising funds for humanitarian activities. The Boucherie and Balloon festival is our primary fundraiser to support the Louisiana Lions Eye Foundation and the Louisiana Lions Camp. This event provides resources which allow us to supply glasses and hearing aids to those in need in our community, as well as to send children with respiratory disorders, special needs, juvenile diabetes, and childhood cancer to camp during the summer. Through the support of our community and generous sponsors, we have been able to keep the legacy of the Boucherie and Balloon Festival alive while fulfilling its purpose of helping others in need.
